Typhoon impact Chinese Port Operations

coracle News

Chinese authorities closed the northeastern ports of Qingdao and Dalian last Thursday, ahead of the arrival of Typhoon Muifa. This followed the one-day closure of the ports of Shanghai and Ninbo last Wednesday, which were also impacted by the typhoon.

Shippers could face weeks of delay from the back-to-back typhoons of Muifa and Hinnamnor, the latter which forced Shanghai’s major container port of Yangshan to suspend terminal operations in early September. Also impacting shipping schedules are the blank sailings from carriers ahead of China’s week-long National Day holiday starting October 1.
