With increasing demand and soaring freight rates for container liners, multipurpose carriers are offering their ships for use to try and help close the supply gap.

Multipurpose carriers are offering their ships for use to try and help close the supply gap created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Profits are up in the shipping business, however the volume of shipments has only seen a slight increase. At the same time, the Federal Maritime Commission in the United States has launched a probe as a response to complaints about shippers’ lack of available containers. [1]
