Canadian Government Offering Incentives for Truckers to Go Green

coracle News

As part of #EVWeek in Canada, the Minister of Transport announced a four-year $550 million program to help businesses switch to zero-emission vehicles. The government’s goal is to “help reduce pollution, create more well-paying jobs, and build a cleaner world for generations to come.”

The Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles Program is applicable for purchases and leases of commercial, medium, and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles, such as the Ford e-Transit cargo van and the Volvo VNR-electric tractor truck (see full list of eligible vehicles). It’s eligible to provinces and territories, municipal and local governments, organization, and businesses. And it’s worth up to $200,000 per vehicle (approximately 50% of the price difference between an electric vehicle and a traditional vehicle). For more information about the program, incentives, and eligibility, go to the Transport Canada website.
