Cyberattacks on the Rise

Two recent hacking incidents in the industry are representative of a 400% increase in cyberattacks during the spring of 2020.

The world’s 4th largest shipping line, CMA CGM Group, was hacked in September causing the company to shut down external access to their network and rework their booking and e-commerce systems. CMA CGM is still investigating the full scale and implication of the data theft. One of Canada’s largest trucking companies, Manitoulin, was also hacked in the summer. IT professionals caught and stopped the attack early, and the company was able to protect customer data. [1]
